Tuleviku Meedia's new project promotes information resilience and media literacy among young people

We are starting a project on media literacy and information resilience, aimed primarily at Russian-speaking young people and teachers in Tallinn, Harju County and Ida-Viru County. The aim of the project is to increase the population's resistance to misinformation.

From April to December 2025, NGO Tuleviku Meedia ran a similar project on media literacy and information resilience for young people and teachers in Tallinn, Harju County and Ida-Viru County. The project consisted of 24 lectures, which were attended by more than 460 students and 56 teachers.

"Our meetings focused on fact-checking, the importance of reliable sources of information, including in crisis situations, the attention economy, and the risks associated with content produced by artificial intelligence," says Julia Rodina, Tuleviku Meedia founder and media lecturer. "During the project, we noticed that the level of media literacy among teenagers can vary greatly from school to school, but often many of them do not see the danger in situations where their personal data is not sufficiently protected and do not consider this to be a risk."

As part of the project, Tuleviku Meedia will organise guest lessons, meetings, workshops and training on media literacy and information resilience. The main target groups are Russian-speaking young people aged 15-19 and teachers of other languages (mainly Russian) in Tallinn, Harju County and Ida-Viru County.

The main topics of the practical trainings will be

  • Fact-checking tools and their use,
  • Resistance to manipulation,
  • Journalistic criteria and ethics,
  • Journalist and editorial work,
  • Media literacy teaching tools,
  • Methodologies and sources that can be used in class.

We also plan to organise meetings and training sessions for non-native-speakers (teachers) with the aim of strengthening their information responsiveness, providing teachers with resources and methodologies on how to teach media literacy in a successful and engaging way. Teachers' meetings take place both on-site in Tallinn and online.

Are you a representative of a Tallinn, Harjumaa, Ida-Virumaa school or a teacher and would like to invite us to visit you?

NB! The number of guest lessons is limited.

Teachers’ training information will be published separately. We will publish the information about the itinerary in the Tuleviku Meedia's channels.
